Located in Santa Maria da Feira, overlooking the valleys of Lugar de Souto, Casa do Espigueiro stands out in the landscape as a small building entirely covered in herringbone slate.

The house was designed to convert a ruin into a dwelling to house the caretakers. Thus, the program was planned to be distributed over two floors: the first floor houses the social area, with an open-plan kitchen and living room; the second floor comprises the private space, which includes a suite. The interior spaces open onto a large glazed opening which, in turn, opens onto the landscape and provides access to the house. On the rear façade, a small window stands out in the architecture of the house and breaks the plane of the "blind" façade. On the side of the house, a granary can be seen, from which the house takes its name.

Surrounded by extensive green spaces with eucalyptus groves, the building was constructed in a way that minimizes environmental impact and was designed to integrate into the context through the use of ecological materials.
