The proposal for Casa do Rio originates from a pre-existing three-story building, formerly a manor house. The purpose of the intervention was its rehabilitation and transformation into a rural hotel.

The Casa do Rio program includes a reception area, a living room for guests, and 5 accommodation units. Each unit has a spacious area with a double bed. In all rooms, the bathtub plays a prominent role, standing out as a unique piece and resting on Riga wood flooring. The bathroom, with sink, toilet, and shower, is located in a separate and private space.

The alterations carried out were done in a way that respected the structural integrity of the house and are therefore practically imperceptible. However, these interventions allowed for the expansion of the internal program and the enhancement of the proposed tourism development, as well as increasing the potential for offerings.

In terms of volume and layout, the existing architecture remained unchanged, except for the rear elevation, which underwent a new interpretation. The final result of the intervention presents a dialogue between vernacular and contemporary architecture, while respecting the integrity of the natural context in which it is situated.
